Performance & Standards Committee

The role of this committee is set out below.

The role of governors is mainly to ensure that these tasks are completed, are of good standard and meet the overall needs of the school. The actions are spread out over 4 or 5 meetings per year and are fed back to the full governing body by the chair of the committee.

  1. Ensure that the School Evaluation Review (SER) and Learning Improvement Plan (LIP) accurately reflect the performance, work and aspirations of the school.
  2. Ensure that the School Prospectus fulfils legal requirements and gives prospective parents accurate and useful information about the school.
  3. Ensure that the school meets its legal obligations as to school policies and that those policies meet legal requirements and are regularly revised to reflect current school practice.
  4. Ensure that Pupil Premium is focused on pupils with additional needs and the impact of regular monitoring and evaluation activities on all groups are used to have a positive impact on raising standards. 
  5. Ensure that target setting procedures are rigorous, targets set are challenging but achievable and take account of school, local and national data.
  6. Ensure that self evaluation procedures (SIAMS) in preparation for a Church School inspection is completed and fully reflects accurately the performance, work and aspirations of St Paul’s as a Voluntary Controlled Church School.
  7. Ensure that information on the website is up to date with current legislation.
  8. To provide an annual report and prospectus to parents in at the end of the academic year. 
  9. Report to the full Governing Body making recommendations as appropriate. 
  10. The quorum for any governing body meeting and vote must be one half (rounded up to the whole number) of the complete membership of the governing body, excluding any governor vacancies.  For sub committees it is a minimum of three full governors with staff governors always in the minority
